Ah, fear. The sometimes crippling emotion that we attribute to being stuck, afraid of change, and reluctant to create the things that are calling us.

However, it is not fear itself that keeps us from our dreams. It’s our unwillingness to welcome it, breathe into it, feel it fully, and hear the message it brings.

Fear is necessary. It helps us survive. And it is always present in the unfamiliar and uncomfortable.

Surprisingly, it also has the potential to be our superpower… if we let it.

When fear guides our creative decisions and lifestyles, our lives end up being so much smaller than we want them to be.

If we embrace it, rather than trying to protect ourselves from it, we can stretch in ways we never thought possible.

Overcoming fear just means that we surrender to it. We allow it to be our companion in the creative process but we don’t let it take the wheel.

As Elizabeth Gilbert says, “Fear, you can come with me, but I’m doing this thing.”

The presence of fear shows that we are growing, changing and moving out of our comfort zones and into the unknown, which is where the true magic happens. Fear is often the messenger that we are moving into growth territory. Yay!
